Dress Code and School Uniform

Beers Elementary School students wear uniforms to school, which helps instill a sense of school pride, professionalism, unity, and reduce “fashion distraction". Students wear uniforms every school day, unless a specific change in dress code has been communicated to the students and parents in advance, such as occasional “dress down days”. At all times, including dress down days, students are subject to the dress code principles in DCMR Chapter B24.

Our dress code will be enforced in an equitable and solutions-oriented manner.

School Uniform
The required daily school uniform for all students is:

• A navy-blue, yellow, or gold collared shirt or any school shirt with Beers' logo purchased from the Anne Beers Online School Store (optional: navy blue tie)

• Navy-blue uniformshorts, pants, skirt, or one-piece dresses

• Students may wear navy-blue or gray sweatshirts with the Beers logo (hoods are not allowed to be worn in the building) or solid navy-blue sweaters or sweatshirts

• Students may wear any socks and closed-toe shoes of their choice, and our student-athletes may wear their team shirts on game days.

All clothing choices must cover the core of the student’s body, to include private areas and midriff, with opaque fabric. Students may not wear clothing that reveals undergarments.

Beers' students may NOT wear:

• Clothing that shows undergarments

• Open-toed shoes

• Hats or hoods

• Headgear (except for religious reasons)
